YOUNG musicians took the main stage by storm when they played at York's annual celebration of folk music at the weekend.
The concert by York Young Fiddlers took place in a marquee set up in the car park of the Black Swan Inn, in Peasholme Green.
The lively gigs and reels played by about a dozen youngsters were well received by an enthusiastic audience enjoying the sunny weather on Saturday afternoon.
The group, which meets at York's Steiner School, in Fulford Cross, for regular workshops, was just one of many acts that performed during the weekend. They included local bands such as Union Central, Soundsphere and Los Yobos, as well as singer-songwriters such as Stan Graham, Wendy Arrowsmith and Ruby Paul.
A non-stop musicians' session was held on both days in the pub's Bowes Room.
The free festival of folk music has expanded in recent years to such an extent that organisers decided to stage it over two days this year, rather than the usual one.
